چکیده
Abstract Boxwood blight is caused by Calonectria henricotiae (Che) and C. pseudonaviculata (Cps). Unrecognized symptoms on Buxus cuttings used for propagation could potentially serve as a source of inoculum result in pathogen spread. In this study, boxwood (Buxus spp.) cultivars ‘Justin Brouwers', ‘Nana', ‘Green Beauty', Velvet' were assessed root production after exposure to 45 C (113 F) or 47.5 (118 water 0 60 minutes 5 minute increments. The number roots greater than 1 cm (0.4 in) length produced all three months treatment up was not statistically different from the non-immersed control. A similar response observed treated minutes, except cv. ‘Nana,' which fewer control 35 heated water. Experiments conducted diseased, detached leaves susceptible cultivar Brouwers' at C, 50 (122 52.5 (127 showed significantly reduced conidia viability Che Cps 25 30 (44%) 12 (22%). After 8 water, little no sporulation either pathogen. Index words: blight, pseudonaviculata, henricotiae, Buxus, hot treatment, rooting, cuttings, plant propagation. Boxwood: Abstractions as the Foundation for Storage Infrastructure
Writers of complex storage applications such as distributed file systems and databases are faced with the challenges of building complex abstractions over simple storage devices like disks. These challenges are exacerbated due to the additional requirements for faulttolerance and scaling. This paper explores the premise that high-level, fault-tolerant abstractions supported directly by the stor...
متن کاملEffects of density of Helicotylenchus dihystera and Pratylenchus vulnus on American boxwood growing in microplots.
American boxwood, Buxus sempervirens var. globosum, was tolerant of Helicotylenchus dihystera [in field microplots] as measures of plant growth were similar to the control and nematode densities were maintained at high levels (1,705-1,810/500 cm(3) soil after 29 months). Boxwood was intolerant of Pratylenchus vulnus at initial densities of 163, 281, or 475 nematodes per 500 cm(3) soil. In compa...
متن کاملLAMP Detection Assays for Boxwood Blight Pathogens: A Comparative Genomics Approach
Rapid and accurate molecular diagnostic tools are critical to efforts to minimize the impact and spread of emergent pathogens. The identification of diagnostic markers for novel pathogens presents several challenges, especially in the absence of information about population diversity and where genetic resources are limited. The objective of this study was to use comparative genomics datasets to...
متن کاملDevelopment of polymorphic genic-SSR markers by cDNA library sequencing in boxwood, Buxus spp. (Buxaceae)1
UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Genic microsatellites or simple sequence repeat (genic-SSR) markers were developed in boxwood (Buxus taxa) for genetic diversity analysis, identification of taxa, and to facilitate breeding. • METHODS AND RESULTS cDNA libraries were developed from mRNA extracted from leaves of Buxus sempervirens 'Vardar Valley' and sequenced using the Illumina MiSeq system. ...
